subtle
shifting softness

The heart of what I do
The ability to capture how women subtly shift and move and change through their lives is a big part of why I love what I do.
I recently attended a photography workshop that captured both the freedom of women, and the ebbs and flows of our feminine cycles that can sometimes feel like invisible constraints placed on us.
The tulle that gently flowed around the women represented our fertility cycle. This purely feminine aspect of ourselves is often hidden away, or for some generations, was a taboo topic not up for discussion, leading the full knowledge of femininity to be lost amongst the masculine landscape of the world.
It really is why I love photographing women.
Our hearts are big and vulnerable.
We can create life.
We put on these brave exteriors for people we love while we might be going through our own personal losses – shifting identities, miscarriages, hormonal fluctutations that become loud whispers in our bodies that change is afoot.
To have the opportunity to capture moments where women can be photographed and be seen fully with their hearts and souls expressed with beautiful poetic landscapes that also are subject to change, is one of wonder.
Photography allows souls to sink into a moment, see a feeling that may not be spoken, and look at the contrast between the seasons of the earth and the seasons of life.

Spring is one such season of creative birth
– a beautiful time to celebrate transitions and new beginnings.
I don’t know why we wait for a new year to roll around to set a resolution when spring is all about rebirth and celebration and new life. New life can happen at any time, and looks different for everyone – it could be finding that new level of self love with your own moments in front of the camera to capture your beauty and soul, or it could be simply grabbing the ones you love and pressing pause to create some memories to treasure.

I am also in love with pressing pause
for photographic poetry at the moment in Albany.
Creatively, Albany has become a new photographic playground for my style of photography. An opportunity to chase the sun and capture life in a small, yet creatively rich corner of South Western Australia.
albany photography nurtures my soul
The beaches, moody rocky, coastlines with an ocean full of mysterious sould, the old ruins sitting on top of a cliff…
Tt really feels like the air and the ground inhale and exhale this beautiful blend of romance and adventure from days gone by.
Perfect for photography shoots of women, families, maternity as we get to play with all the elements – wind, sun, earth only to capture love, emotion and connection in fleeting moments.
Albany photographic shoots are ideal for Albany-based families, or for those travelling to the region wanting to capture sweeping memories whilst there.
I’ll be back next month with my favourite soul warming photography shoots & what I am looking forward to next.
With love
Mel xoxo
